Hey my is Samm also known as three/3.
Age 25. I love music, poetry, art and all things expressive.
Tell me about your business and what inspired you to start?
A brand called 305IVE, it’s a lingerie and loungewear brand which sets to focus on the art of being a new aged woman.
Hmm, what inspired me, I’d say I was inspired by my genuine love for lingerie. I have this weird obsession with the way lingerie makes me feel and wanted to be able to create this feeling for other females to experience.
What makes your business different ?
I create and sew everything myself, from the design to the actual construction of each garment, all meeee. I love what I do and make each piece once ordered so it’s sort of a more personal experience.
Though I have experience in garment construction, I am learning lingerie as I’m going, using customers reviews to change fits and feels because individualism is important to me, I only make a maximum of 30 or 50 pieces of each design. Exclusivity is my promise to my buyers.
Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 years?
Let’s wait and see 😅
What would you say makes your business successful ?
I wouldn’t say it is a success as of yet but instead an on going process. As long as I’m enjoying myself and women are feeling confident in my pieces, I’m happy.
Do you ever experience obstacles or challenges, how do you overcome them?
Of course. sometimes for example, I will be working for hours trying to work out how I can make something before drafting it on paper. I draft it, cut out the fabric and it doesn’t work. So I’ll drink wine, listen to music and get it together ha! It’s part of the process.
Other than that time, I take a break to clear my mind and revisit the challenge
/obstacle later so I can have a new perspective on it. The combination of both usually help me.
What does success mean to you ?
Success to me is forever changing. There isn’t just one goal, but ultimately, being able to plan and execute. Being able to be happy and share with those around me is success.
Is there anything you would have done differently or anything you believe you would have benefited from in the process of implementing your business.
Yes I definitely, I would have actually gone to lectures and learnt adobe suite as I’m finding I need it a lot and I could have saved a lot more time.
What do you believe is the most important tool to equip an inspiring business owner with?
I think the most important thing besides loving what you do is taking the time to research the business side of things. When being creative it’s so easy to be fixed on your art rather than the logistics. I was lucky to have people I can talk to around me but there are also a lot of podcasts and YouTube videos to aid you.
Social media is your best friend. Don’t be shy to message whoever you have to, someone will be interested.
Can you describe your customers?
They will sacrifice an hours sleep for a night out.
